Reciprocity Fee Suspension Remains in Effect

The 90 day halt on the reciprocity fee for US citizens expired on June 21, 2016. However, Argentina still hasn't reinstated the reciprocity fee for American citizens. What does this mean? Americans entering Argentina on tourism or short-term business still are not required to pay the reciprocity fee. This exempt period will remain in effect until Presidential order is issued. All that will be needed for US citizens to enter Argentina will be a valid passport that is valid for the duration of their stay in Argentina. Keep in mind that the stay cannot exceed 90 days from day of arrival.

Unfortunately, Canadians and Australian are still mandated to pay the entry fee (reciprocity fee) via an online processor.

The Argentinian Government has added Chinese citizens to the the group of nations that require to pay an entry fee in order to visit Argentina as Tourists or on Short-Term Business. This entry fee is like a visa that is required to be paid in order to enter Argentina.

Effective immediately, all Chinese citizens that are seeking to vacation in Argentina are now required toapply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before they depart to Argentina. Currently, the fee for Chinese citizens is $70 USD (entry fee plus processing) and its valid for 3 months - multiple entries. It is imperative that the fee be paid before the traveler heads to the airport. Once the fee is completed, the applicant will receive the document via email as a .pdf file. Print the document (barcode) and keep with your passport. Argentinian officials will ask to see the paper once the traveler arrives.

Argentina Halts the Reciprocity Fee for US Citizens for 90 Days

By Support March 23, 2016 No comments

Argentina has temporarily suspended the Reciprocity Fee for U.S. citizens entering the country on tourism or short-term business. The Reciprocity Fee will be waived for Americans for 90 days from March 24, 2016. This decision came immediately after U.S. president Barrack Obama and Argentinian president Mauricio Macri met in Argentina yesterday. The U.S. agreed to eliminate the consular interviews with Argentinians under 16 and over 65 years of age who apply for a visa.

Canadian and Australian citizens are still required to pay the Reciprocity Fee before they arrive in Argentina.

APPLY

It is highly advised U.S. citizens to register their upcoming trip with the State Department.
